Welcome to REE EUROPE!

September 2003 saw the third European Roundtable, returning to London and hosted by the UK's Centre for Scientific Enterprise. Roundtables in previous years have been held in Lausanne (2002), hosted by the École Polytechnique Fédérale De Lausanne, and in London (2001), hosted by the Centre for Scientific Enterprise.

BACKGROUND
The mission of the Roundtable for Entrepreneurship Education Europe is to gather together business, science and engineering faculty from leading universities in Europe with the goal of accelerating entrepreneurship education for scientists and engineers.

Specifically, REE offers an opportunity for the leaders of established entrepreneurship programmes to share their success stories, and for new and established programmes to learn how to enhance their offerings. REE Europe includes a formal programme with interactive workshops as well as many opportunities for informal discussions and networking with colleagues from around the world.

We encourage and recommend that two faculty members represent each university.

This may be either

  • A senior faculty member from Science or Engineering plus one from Business, or
  • The academic head and the administrative head of Entrepreneurship Education

The objective of 2003's meeting was to explore the requirements and expectations that both students and potential employers place on entrepreneurship trainers and educators. Representatives from small companies, venture capitalists and major corporates came together with leading academics from around Europe, USA and Asia to explore how this network of interdependent partners could work together, creating an ever-increasing benefit.

Delegates were encouraged to share examples of best practice and reflect on how the collaborative support of innovation could be reflected within institutional strategy, operational plans and specific student centred delivery.

Other REE events are held in both the USA and Asia. Please click here for details.
